To gain a Commercial Helicopter Licence you need to fly 150 hours. Up to 100 hours can be flown in an airplane, but I recommend very strongly to do as much flying as possible in a helicopter. The chances of getting a job are much greater if you have 150 hours in helicopter compared to only 50 hours.
During the basic training we will be flying in the area of San Luis Obispo. Later you may do flights to further away places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. As part of the course you will learn to navigate safely and find any point in difficult terrain, learn what is important when you are operating on film flights and what you must watch for on power line or pipeline controls. We also will show you how to conduct rescue flights in a safe manner. This type of flying you cannot learn in any other flight school as most of the instructors have never experienced this type of flying themselves.
